Mar 27, 2010 · Thunder Striker is a steel hyper roller coaster located at Carowinds in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. The ride was originally known as Intimidator. Built by Bolliger & Mabillard, it was the park's thirteenth roller coaster when it opened on March 27, 2010. It was the tallest roller coaster at the park until the opening of Fury 325 in 2015. Fury still needs a little warming up but it was lovely to be back, and yeah, not a single trim on Intimidator across our four rides… don't want to jinx it, though. Fury/Copperhead averaged 20-30 minute waits, Afterburn 5-10, and Intimidator ops were on point and kept it at a station wait a shocking amount of the time.

One of the gift shops at the front gate was selling CoasterDyamics' Nanocoaster stainless steel models: Intimidator 305 and Twisted Timbers. While I prefer riding I305 by a little, I thought the model of Twisted Timbers was more interesting and a better visual piece. It's all dependent on what you personally like in a coaster. Fury 325 is a complete coaster that pleases a large amount of people. It has good airtime, good laterals, great speed, and it's a pretty long ride, and relatively smooth.
