Low head pressure normal suction.

My suction is running at 45psi and head is at 110psi. I checked evap coil and filter and both were clean, so I figured it was low on R22. I added 7 lbs. (factory charge is 7.25 lbs) and pressures did not change. The suction line is frosting up to the compressor. I'm starting to think I have a bad reversing valve.

Low head pressure normal suction. Things To Know About Low head pressure normal suction.

How to Check Subcooling. Attach the thermometer to the liquid line. This time, near the condenser. Then take the head pressure in Psi and convert it to the temperature on the pressure/temperature chart. Assuming you are dealing with a R22 system, let’s say the head pressure is 260Psi. This will convert to 120F.The technician instantly notices the suction pressure is reading 50 psig (26°). For the outdoor temperature and humidity conditions that day, the normal suction pressure should be about 70 psig (41°). The head pressure also is low at 190 psig for the 90° day. The head pressure should be in the 255-265 psig range. We will first examine the low-pressure side of the system, otherwise known as the vapor or suction line. During air conditioning mode, the pressure on the vapor line of an R-410A system will be somewhere between 102 to 145 PSIG. If the system had R-22, the vapor pressure would be between 58 to 85 PSIG but these pressures will be dependent on ...Pump characteristics—such as flow, pressure, efficiency and brake horsepower—are shown graphically on a pump curve. The first item to look at is the size of the pump. The size of the pump, 2x3-8 is shown in the upper section of the graph. The numbers 2x3-8 indicates: The outlet (discharge port) is 2 inches.
