The serial number on the butt of my Model 49 Bodyguard just doesn't match up with the way everybody has them listed. I am in hopes that someone on the forum, somewhere can help me get it dated. So here goes, the serial number is 9J7XXX. Thats it, sum total. A Model 10-7 can't have a serial number of C359288 (the B97447 is not a serial) because that C series number is from around 1956 which is before S&W model marked their guns. Check it again to make sure you have the numbers correct or that you have a model marked gun.
